Afia Schwarzenegger has reacted to a GH¢10 million defamation lawsuit filed against her by Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Gyamfi's lawsuit stems from Afia's video claims that he bought cars for his girlfriends at the University of Ghana and engaged in extramarital affairs.
Afia congratulated Sammy Gyamfi on the lawsuit, sarcastically stating he had already won the case. She emphasized her confidence that the case would not amount to much in court, drawing parallels with US-based vlogger Kevin Taylor, who allegedly insulted top Ghanaian personalities, including Otumfuo and the Chief Imam, without facing legal consequences. "Have you seen how Kevin Taylor's case went? That is the same way our case would go. Kevin Taylor has insulted Otumfuo, Chief Imam, yet he walks free," Afia said. She also jokingly mentioned that if she had GH¢10 million, she would be the President of Ghana, suggesting she doesn't have the money Gyamfi is demanding.
Sammy Gyamfi is seeking a restraining order to prevent Afia from making further defamatory remarks about him. He also demands a public apology to be published on Afia's social media platforms and in a national newspaper. Gyamfi is requesting GH¢10 million in damages for defamation.
