Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu has jumped to the defense of veteran Kumawood star Agya Koo following recent comments made by colleague Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin.
During a recent radio interview to promote his upcoming movie President Traoré, Lilwin reportedly described Agya Koo as now being a “funeral performer” — a remark that stirred controversy among fans.
Reacting in an interview, Kwaku Manu dismissed the criticism, saying there is nothing wrong if Agya Koo performs at events, including funerals, as long as he is paid and his team benefits.
“I’m good with that if Agya Koo’s belly is full after his live performance and his workers get paid. Because he is working,” Kwaku Manu said.
He further explained that Agya Koo’s performances bring joy to audiences and help people forget their worries, which is a noble contribution to society.
“As far as Agya Koo does that to entertain people and make them happy to forget their grievances, I’m happy,” he added.
The comments have sparked discussions in the entertainment industry about the value of live performances and the need to respect veteran actors for their craft, regardless of the platform or venue.
