The family of the late Ghanaian music legend, Daddy Lumba, has announced a change in venue for his One-Week Observation ceremony.
Initially scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana Sports Complex, the event will now be held at Independence Square (Black Star Square) in Accra.
According to a statement shared on Daddy Lumba’s official page, the decision was necessitated by a directive from the La Traditional Council, which has placed a temporary ban on funerals and noisemaking within its jurisdiction during this period.
The family emphasized that while the venue has been altered, the date for the observation remains unchanged. The ceremony will still be held on Saturday, 30th August 2025.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience this change may cause. However, we remain grateful for the overwhelming love and support from fans, friends, and the entire nation as we honor the memory of our beloved Daddy Lumba,” the family said in the statement.
Fans and sympathizers are expected to gather in large numbers at Independence Square to pay their respects to the iconic musician, whose passing has left a deep void in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
