In a deeply moving tribute to the eight victims of the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash, Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa poured out his grief and spiritual anguish, openly questioning why such a tragedy was allowed to occur.
“Shattered, devastated, speechless, shaken, traumatized, heartbroken, horrified, depressed, petrified all these words fail to do justice to our current tribulation,” Ablakwa began, his voice heavy with sorrow.
With deep emotion, he posed a question that many grieving Ghanaians have silently wrestled with: “Where is our omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God?”
Reflecting on biblical teachings that God’s ways are not the ways of man, the MP admitted, “Who will dare convince us that this is God’s way?” He recalled lessons about trusting the Creator who has power over the soul, yet confessed that nothing could have prepared the nation for such a day of unimaginable loss.
“No human being deserves to die in this manner,” Ablakwa lamented, emphasizing that the eight fallen celebrated for their contributions, kindness, and service to Ghana “definitely did not deserve to depart this world in such unspeakable circumstances.”
The August 6 crash claimed the lives of prominent government officials and military personnel, sending shockwaves through the country. Their sacrifices and achievements, Ablakwa stressed, will forever be remembered.
A state funeral to honour the victims will be held on August 15, 2025, as the nation comes together to bid them a final farewell.
