A military helicopter tragically crashed on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti Region, killing all four people onboard. The victims are believed to be top government officials en route to Obuasi, though their identities have not yet been officially confirmed.
The helicopter, which is reported to routinely service the Accra-Obuasi route every Wednesday, went down under mysterious circumstances and caught fire immediately upon impact, leaving the scene in devastation.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as horrifying. “The helicopter hit a tree and exploded. Everything was on fire. We couldn’t recognize the bodies,” a resident who rushed to the scene recounted.
According to reports, the aircraft was completely engulfed in flames, and the bodies of the victims were burnt beyond recognition. Dismembered body parts were recovered from the crash site, making identification even more difficult.
Assembly Member for the area, Matthew Baah, confirmed the incident. He revealed that he received a distress call while working on his farm. “After the crash, everything went silent. Residents who rushed to the scene found the helicopter in flames,” he said in a media interview.
Emergency services have since secured the area, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. The Ghana Armed Forces and relevant authorities are expected to issue an official statement and begin a forensic identification of the deceased.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, with many residents mourning the loss and questioning the safety of routine military flights in the region.
