Nana Kojo Conduah VI, the Paramount Chief of the Edina Traditional Area, has highlighted several pressing issues affecting the people of Elmina during the grand durbar of the Edina Bakatue Festival.

The chief's demands focus on improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, employment, and environmental management.

The Elmina Polyclinic needs staff quarters for doctors and nurses, and land is available for construction. The chief also urged the government to complete uncompleted projects, including the Edinaman Senior High School buildings and the Nkontrodo E-block. A school bus is also needed for Edinaman Senior High School.

Nana Kojo Conduah VI emphasized the need for job opportunities for youth in Elmina through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA). He also highlighted the importance of sea dredging at the Elmina Fishing Harbour to improve the livelihoods of fishermen.

The chief cautioned churches to respect traditional norms and adhere to the ban on noise-making during certain periods. He encouraged the government to invest in festivals, recognizing their cultural significance and potential to promote tourism.

Additionally, Nana Kojo Conduah VI requested that the government allocate a percentage of castle revenue to the Elmina Traditional Council. He also urged the government to provide Zoomlion with new equipment, including dustbins and refuse buckets, to enhance waste management. The chief further emphasized the need to revive Sayiko, a local industry.
