Nana Agradaa, the founder of Heaven Way Champion Ministries and self-styled evangelist, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor by the Accra Circuit Court. She was found guilty of defrauding by false pretense and engaging in charlatanic advertisement, stemming from a widely televised money-doubling scam aired in 2022.

Nana Agradaa claimed to possess spiritual powers to double money, prompting dozens of people to hand over large sums to her church. However, instead of doubling their money, she defrauded the victims, leading to public outrage and a swift police investigation.

This isn't Nana Agradaa's first encounter with the law. In 2021, she was fined GH¢36,000 for operating a TV station without a license and GH¢10,000 for charlatanic advertisement. If she had failed to pay the fines, she would have served a three-year jail term for the former charge and a year in prison for the latter.

Nana Agradaa is currently facing several other legal battles, including three separate cases pending before different circuit courts in Accra related to charges of defrauding by false pretense and charlatanic advertising. She is also standing trial over her alleged involvement in the assault of Prophet Akwasi Appiah, also known as Appiah Biblical, in 2020.

Nana Agradaa's continued legal troubles have raised questions about the authenticity of her conversion to Christianity and her ministry. The former fetish priestess rebranded herself as a Christian evangelist in 2021, but her actions have sparked skepticism about her true intentions.
