Liverpool forward Diogo Jota passes away

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota tragically passed away in a car crash in Spain on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the age of 28.

The accident occurred in Zamora, northwestern Spain, where Jota and his 26-year-old brother, Andre Silva, were traveling. Both Jota and his brother succumbed to fatal injuries.

The car crash occurred in the province of Zamora, near the town of Sanabria, close to the Portuguese border. The car went off the road, resulting in a fire that set the vehicle and surrounding vegetation ablaze.

The Portuguese Football Federation expressed shock and deep sorrow, describing Jota as an "exceptional player" and an "extraordinary person". FC Porto, Jota's former club, also paid tribute, sending condolences to his family and friends.

Liverpool fans and the football community worldwide are mourning the loss of a talented player who won two Premier League titles and made 182 appearances for the club.

Jota had married his long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, just five days ago. He leaves behind three children, including a youngest child born late last year and an eldest child aged four.



The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the football world, with many fans and fellow players paying tribute to his talent and dedication.
