Ghana’s music industry has been thrown into mourning following the confirmed death of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. He passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.
According to Graphic Showbiz, sources close to the family revealed that the award-winning musician had been admitted at the hospital for an undisclosed health condition. Sadly, he succumbed to the illness at dawn.
As of 1:00 PM on Saturday, dozens of fans, family members, and loved ones had gathered at his residence in East Legon to grieve and show support to the bereaved family.
Although the family is yet to issue an official statement, preparations are reportedly underway to formally announce the passing of the iconic musician.
Daddy Lumba, aged 59, was widely regarded as one of the most influential highlife musicians in Ghana’s history. With a career spanning over three decades, he released multiple chart-topping albums and was known for his distinctive voice, timeless love songs, and flamboyant personality. His musical contributions earned him countless awards and a loyal fan base across generations.

Social media has been flooded with tributes from fans and fellow musicians, many expressing shock and heartbreak over the loss of a true music icon.
