The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has reached an agreement with the government, where two of the demanded allowances will be granted. These allowances include uniform and fuel allowances. The agreement comes after a high-stakes meeting between the GRNMA, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, and the government team. The allowances will be included in the mid-year budget review expected to be presented to Parliament.

The GRNMA had embarked on a nationwide strike to press for the implementation of their 2024 Conditions of Service, which includes these allowances. Although the strike has been suspended pending further negotiations, the GRNMA is still pushing for the inclusion of other allowances.

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has acknowledged the GRNMA's concerns and demands, reiterating the government's position on further consultation and engagement. Further discussions with the GRNMA are scheduled for next Tuesday to address the remaining demands.
