The Ghanaian government has taken decisive action to restore professionalism and credibility within its security agencies.

According to Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, over 1,100 recruits from various security services have been removed due to irregularities in the recruitment process.

A comprehensive review of approximately 5,200 new recruits was conducted, revealing widespread irregularities. As a result, personnel who failed to meet basic entry requirements were dismissed. The affected agencies include the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Narcotics Control Commission, with 320, 730, and 50 personnel removed, respectively.

The Minister emphasized that the affected individuals were notified in writing with clear reasons for their removal. This move aims to ensure that only qualified and capable personnel serve in Ghana's security agencies. To prevent similar issues in the future, new guidelines have been introduced to ensure transparency and fairness in recruitment processes, including clearly defined job categories and requirements.
