The Ghana Police Service successfully foiled a planned armed robbery operation in Accra on July 15, 2025, resulting in the death of two suspects and the injury of a police officer.
The operation was carried out by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters in Accra, following credible intelligence that five armed men were lodging at a hotel in Labadi and planning to rob a foreign national in the Cantonments area.
The police tracked the suspects, who were traveling in a Toyota Yaris vehicle, and attempted to apprehend them. However, the suspects opened fire, injuring one officer in the legs and underarm. The police returned fire, fatally injuring two suspects who were later pronounced dead at the Police Hospital. The injured officer is currently receiving treatment and responding well.
Two pump-action guns loaded with ammunition, live cartridges, three mobile phones, talismans, and other items were retrieved from the scene. A manhunt is underway for the remaining three suspects who fled the scene and are believed to be hiding in Accra and its environs.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring safety and has called on anyone with information on the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects to assist in the ongoing investigations.
