Leading figures of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have used the Christmas season to send messages of goodwill to Ghanaians while reflecting on the party’s future and prospects ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is seeking to lead the NPP into the next elections, extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to the nation. In a Facebook post on Thursday, December 25, he wished Ghanaians well as they joined Christians across the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

“I extend heartfelt greetings to all on the occasion of Christmas,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

Similarly, Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, delivered a Christmas message filled with optimism about the party’s future. Addressing party members, he reflected on the political landscape, noting that one year has elapsed under the Mahama administration, with three more years remaining.

“All I smell is victory in 2028,” Afenyo-Markin declared.

Beyond expressing confidence in electoral success, the Minority Leader emphasized the importance of unity within the party, especially as the NPP prepares to elect a flagbearer in primaries scheduled for January 31.

He urged members to conduct themselves responsibly and protect the party’s heritage. “What our forebearers put together through their sweat and blood, let no party member put asunder,” he cautioned, stressing that unity, credibility and moral authority must not be compromised.

The Christmas messages from the NPP leaders reflect a blend of seasonal goodwill, political optimism and calls for cohesion as the party prepares for critical internal and national political milestones.
