The Abrem Agona Circuit of the Ghana Education Service KEEA has successfully organized its Inter-Schools Arts and Culture Competition at St. John's Catholic Basic School 'A' in Abrem Agona under the theme, "Culture Education: Nurturing and Preserving Ghanaian Values."

The colourful event brought together sixteen public basic schools within the circuit, which competed in a variety of activities aimed at promoting Ghana's rich cultural heritage. The competitions featured drama, storytelling, talent hunt, drum language, traditional dance, assemblage and construction, still-life drawing, cooking, and sewing.

The programme attracted traditional authorities led by the Chief of Agona, Nana Terpor V, and his elders. Addressing participants and guests, Nana Terpor V commended the organizers and stressed the importance of sustaining such programmes, noting that they foster unity among schools while preserving the cultural identity of the traditional area and the nation at large.

The Circuit PTA Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Abaidoo, expressed appreciation to the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipal Education Directorate for revitalizing arts and cultural activities in schools.

Representatives of the Municipal Education Directorate present at the event included Mr. William Okai, School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for the Elmina Circuit; Mr. William Awotwe Erskine, SISO for the Ayensudo Circuit; and Mr. Stephen Pennah, the Municipal Sports and Culture Coordinator.

At the end of the event, ten schools secured qualification to represent the Abrem Agona Circuit at the Municipal Inter-Circuit Arts and Culture Competition scheduled for June 10, 2026.

The competition showcased the rich traditions and talents of the participating schools, reaffirming the commitment of the Abrem Agona Circuit to preserving and promoting Ghanaian cultural values among the younger generation. The event demonstrated that culture remains a vital tool for education, unity, and national identity.
