A 20-year-old man, identified as Kwadwo Bright, has been tragically killed following a stabbing incident during a dispute over a plastic chair at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025. It reportedly began at a snooker game centre, where Kwadwo and a friend—believed to be the attacker—clashed over ownership of the same chair.
Although the disagreement was initially settled, tensions reignited when the suspect later confronted Kwadwo. In the heat of the confrontation, the suspect allegedly stabbed him in the neck.
Kwadwo was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but sadly, medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Police are yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but investigations have been launched to apprehend the suspect, who is said to have fled the scene after the attack.
The tragic incident has left many residents of Ashanti New Town in shock, with calls mounting for tighter security and conflict resolution interventions in youth gathering spaces.
