In a bid to account for his stewardship in the first 120 days, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr. Kwame Minta Nyarku, affectionately called Ragga, indicated that being able to renovate the Duakor Basic School, despite his busy schedule in Parliament, is something that gladdens his heart.
He emphasised that the school was in a very deplorable state, highlighting the exigency of its renovation.
Speaking on Atlantic Wave on ATL 100.5 FM, Monday, May 19, 2025, Ragga hinted that the first 120 days had been very hectic, claiming they were saddled with a lot of work regarding budget presentation and approval. Nonetheless, he revealed that all National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs received a directive from the party, urging all parliamentarians to attend parliamentary sittings to ensure they voted in favour of government business. "Arising from this, I wasn't visiting my constituency often. I also had to travel abroad. In all this, I was able to complete the Duakor Basic School renovation. I'm back now embarking on my 'Thank You Tour'", he heartily stated.
Touching on the deplorable nature of the Basic School, he highlighted that it had a leaking roof, which affected the pupils whenever it rained, needed some painting, and had a messed-up partition. "It was really an eyesore, and I needed to do something to help. I'm happy and proud to have been able to fix it," he stressed.
Stretching his philanthropic acts beyond his constituency and underscoring the importance of education, Dr. Nyarku donated 100 bags of cement, two axle trips of sand and stones to OLA Training College for the construction of an infirmary.
"Though not in my constituency, they reached out to my office for help, and I supported them in that regard. All these were done within my first 120 days", he revealed.
As a sports enthusiast and former Casford Hall President, Ragga has donated ¢20,000 to support the hall's construction of a sports facility, demonstrating his commitment to the general well-being of his constituents.
Of what is to happen in the future, he highlighted that they are looking at renovating 10 basic schools across the constituency. At the tertiary level, while he is looking at collaborating with the Minister of Education on finding ingenious ways to inject some capital into completing the School Business property, which is at the ground level at the University of Cape Coast, at Cape Coast Technical University, he is looking at how to sort out their uncompleted auditorium. He added that Nkamfua Vocational School is not doing very well, and it is part of his plans to see how best they can bring it to optimal functionality.
The icing on the cake for the constituency was when Ragga revealed that each MP has been given 10 kilometers of asphalted road. "We are to locate areas within our constituency to be targeted for that project. My targets are the Fourth Ridge area, Basakrom (where the Veep lives), Kwawprow to Ankaful road, Ankaful enclave, Dahia roads would be looked at, Pedu Estate internal roads, Arafin Guest House through Seminary, GNFS road, Akaikrom area, and Mpeasem enclave," Ragga revealed.
Further, he posited that it is the president's vision to improve inner roads in major cities across the country. "This was started in his term and for this year we're given 10 kilometres to start with," hinted Ragga.
As the 120 days have come to an end with Dr. Nyarku still embarking on his tour and touting his achievements and what his government intends to do, the coming days promise to be exciting, and this is good news for the inhabitants of the Cape Coast North Constituency.
