A private consultant in energy and infrastructure finance, Mr. Patrick Nyarko, has publicly advised all New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirants and their supporters, cautioning them not to compromise party unity and cohesion after losing the forthcoming flagbearership race of the party.
He stressed that the party must win the 2028 elections and cannot tolerate any behaviour from bad losers that seeks to undermine the party's cohesive strength.
The private consultant made these remarks when he spoke to this reporter on Thursday, 19th June, 2025, opining on current developments within the NPP regarding preparations towards the party's reorganization. He asserted that every party member has the right to support their preferred candidate but should be magnanimous enough to accept the elections outcome to ensure party unity.
"When you have schedules in politics, you either strategize, work with it, or die complaining", he underscored, cautioning party faithfuls "that if you lose the primaries, then do not cry and bring confusion in, the party because we are focused on winning the 2028 general elections", Mr. Nyarko averred.
These concerns from Mr. Nyarko has been necessitated by recent commentaries from party stalwarts for and/or against other possible flagbearer hopefuls, which in his view do not bode well for party cohesion after the internal elections.
Citing Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a former government spokesperson on security and governance during the NPP administration, who is on record as stating that "Approximately 50 sitting MPs are in support of Kennedy Agyapong". Such remarks, in the view of the private consultant, purporting open support from party leaders, contravene the party's internal policy and only serve to exacerbate internal conflicts before and after elections, ultimately compromising the party's prospects in the 2028 elections.
“I am not opposed to anyone's support for any candidate, but our collective actions and inactions will be a crucial factor in determining the party's unity after the internal primaries,” he stressed.
