The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has supported teacher trainees from the Holy Child College of Education, Sekondi, undertaking their teaching practice in the Atuabo Circuit in the Ellembelle district.

The support, comprising food items, bottled water and sanitary pads, was presented over the weekend on his behalf by his representative, Abizi Morkeh, former Atuabo electoral area Assembly Member.

The Atuabo Circuit, which stretches from Atuabo to Bakanta, has over the years been bedevilled with inadequate teachers.

To help address the challenge, the Paramount Chief of Eastern Nzema Traditional Area, Awulae Blay IX, initiated a partnership with the Holy Child College of Education to post about 50 final-year trainees to the Circuit for their six-month mandatory teaching practice.

Following their arrival, Awulae Blay IX officially wrote to the MP, seeking support for the trainees, particularly regarding their accommodation and welfare.

Speaking during the presentation, Abizi Morkeh, on behalf of the MP, commended Awulae Blay IX for the initiative and pledged the MP's continuous support for the trainees during their stay.

He announced that the MP had taken full responsibility for their accommodation.

"That is why the MP has agreed to pay for the rest of where you people are being housed and when I was here Thursday I had to give money to Waters to go and clear part of it. We shall pay the rest so it is not your duty to pay," he disclosed.

He said the MP, in collaboration with the Ellembelle DCE, was putting measures in place to ease the transportation challenges of the trainees.

"The MP in collaboration with the Assembly will be there tonight. We are planning to get you some transportation activity, so you will get together and transportation will be flexible for you," he added.

Abizi Morkeh said the MP was also liaising for the next batch of trainees and collaborating with other Colleges of Education to expand the opportunity for more students to have their teaching practice in Ellembelle.

"In terms of education to support our people and also to the teacher's benefits in this district. We are happy. The district is happy. The minister is happy. And we are here to support him as a chief who loves education. Such initiative. So we want to thank him for such an initiative," he stated.

The trainees expressed gratitude to Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and the traditional authorities for their support.
