The Chief Executive Officer of Star Oil Limited, Kwame Tieku, has dismissed calls by the management of the Integrated Customs Management System(ICUMS) for an apology, insisting that the company has no reason to apologise.

The demand for an apology reportedly follows Star Oil's inability to load fuel after the Independence Day celebration, blaming ICUMS, which manages aspects of Ghana’s customs and trade facilitation processes.

However, the Star Oil CEO maintained that the request is unjustified, stating that the company does not believe it owes ICUMS an apology.

Industry sources indicate that the issue has also drawn reactions from other players in the petroleum sector.

According to the reports, two of the largest oil marketing companies in Ghana have issued statements on the matter, while a communication circulated by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) to its members is said to have placed responsibility on ICUMS.
