The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has reaffirmed the government’s readiness to facilitate medical treatment abroad for Sandra Baafi Boateng if her doctors determine that she requires advanced specialist care outside the country.
Addressing the Parliament of Ghana, the minister updated lawmakers on Ms. Baafi Boateng’s condition and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting her full recovery.
He explained that she sustained life-threatening injuries during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment stampede on November 12, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Following the incident, Ms. Baafi Boateng was admitted for intensive medical care under specialist supervision, with the government covering all treatment-related expenses to ease the financial burden on her family.
Mr. Akandoh further disclosed that on February 26, 2026, the patient was transferred to the 37 Military Hospital for continued treatment.
According to him, she is currently being managed by a multidisciplinary team of medical specialists and is undergoing rehabilitation as well as psychosocial support aimed at aiding her recovery.
The minister emphasised that authorities are exploring every possible medical intervention, both locally and internationally, to ensure she receives the best possible care.
He added that since the incident during the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, Ms. Baafi Boateng has remained bedridden while undergoing treatment.
