Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that the appointment of a new Black Stars head coach is imminent, with the selection process now entering its final phase.

According to the minister, talks with the shortlisted candidates are nearing completion, with only a handful of engagements remaining before a final decision is made.

“Hopefully, if by this weekend we don’t announce the coach, latest by Monday[April 13, 2026], we should be able to announce our new coach. We’ve come very far. They still have just a few more to talk to,” he said on Channel One TV.

“Between Friday and Monday, we should be able to let you know.”

The search for a new head coach comes after the departure of Otto Addo, leaving the national team without technical direction at a critical moment.

A number of high-profile managers have been linked with the role, including Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento, and Fernando Santos.

With Ghana set to compete in a challenging group against Panama, Croatia, and England at the upcoming World Cup in North America, authorities are eager to finalize the appointment swiftly to allow adequate preparation time.

Once confirmed, the new manager is expected to have an early opportunity to assess the squad in May, when the team assembles for international friendlies against Wales and Mexico, offering a crucial window to evaluate players and begin shaping the team ahead of the tournament.
