Four arrested in Kasoa over suspected mobile phone theft

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested four persons suspected to have stolen mobile phones during the Easter celebrations in Agona Swedru in the Central Region.

The four suspects Anthony Fiave aged 25, Bright Owusu aged 30, Kwaku Appiah aged 38 and John Addai aged 39 had 21 assorted mobile phones in their possession when they were arrested at 3:45am on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The Kasoa Divisional Police patrol, as part of activities geared towards a crime free Easter festivities conducted vehicular “stop-and-search” operations along the Kasoa-Ofaakor- Bawjiase-Swedru Road on 6th April, 2026 and intercepted the Toyota Hiace “ fish” vehicle with registration number GB 6246-22 which carried the suspects.

“Upon a thorough search of the vehicle, Police discovered twenty-one (21) assorted mobile phones believed to have been stolen by the suspects,” a police statement announced.

The statement further clarified that “preliminary investigations indicate that, the suspects embarked on a mobile phone “stealing spree” on the mentioned date at Agona Swedru during the Easter celebration and in the process, succeeded in stealing twenty-one (21) mobile phones of various brands from celebrants (victims) yet to be identified.”

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with further investigations and may face prosecution.

The mobile phones have, however, been retained as exhibits by police and “individuals who may have fallen victim to the activities of these suspects are advised to visit the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for identification and collection of their mobile phones.”
