C/R: Accident at Apam Junction kills one person

A vehicular accident which occured at Gomoa Ankamu (Apam Junction) in the central region has killed one person, the Ghana National Fire Service has reported.

The Apam Fire Station said that on Saturday, 18th April, 2026 at 6;40PM received a running call at the station reporting.

The firefighters on arrival at the scene observed the accident involved a KIA Picanto (GW 8314-21) and Hyundai Rhino (GJ 823-21) at Gomoa Ankamu.

The firefighters rescued one casualty who was trapped in the KIA Picanto and was transported to Saint Luke Hospital by the Ambulance Service.

"Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival," the Fire Sevice said in a statement.

According to an eyewitness, both vehicles were moving in opposite directions.

The Hyundai Rhino, which was heading towards Winneba, attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed, lost control, and collided with the Kia Picanto, which was heading towards Cape Coast.

Both vehicles were severely damaged.
