The senior national team departed Cardiff, Wales, on Wednesday, June 3, following several weeks of intensive training, tactical sessions, and conditioning work. The squad, along with the technical team and officials, is now based in Providence, Rhode Island, where they will complete the final stage of their preparations before the global showpiece begins.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz travelled with his final 26-man squad, which was officially confirmed on Monday, June 1, after the conclusion of Ghana's European training camp. The Portuguese tactician has been working extensively with the players to fine-tune tactics, improve team chemistry, and ensure the squad is in peak condition for the tournament.

The team's arrival in the United States marks a significant step in their World Cup journey, with the focus now shifting towards match readiness and sharpening competitive edge ahead of their opening fixture.

Ghana concluded their Cardiff training camp with a friendly match against Wales at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2. The Black Stars produced an encouraging performance and looked set for victory after Caleb Yirenkyi opened the scoring in the second half. However, late defensive lapses allowed Lewis Koumas to level the score for the hosts, forcing the match to end in a draw.

Despite the disappointing finish, the encounter provided valuable lessons for Queiroz and his coaching staff as they continue to assess the squad and make final adjustments ahead of the World Cup.

The Black Stars are expected to play one more warm-up match against Jamaica on June 10. The fixture is expected to serve as Ghana's final test before they begin their World Cup campaign.

Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and will be hoping to make a significant impact in the tournament. The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia in what promises to be a challenging group.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23. Their final group-stage match will come against Croatia on June 27.

Having reached the quarter-finals in South Africa in 2010 the best performance by an African nation at a World Cup Ghana will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage once again and create new memories on football's biggest stage.

With the squad now settled in the United States and preparations entering the final stretch, optimism continues to grow among supporters that the Black Stars can rise to the occasion and make the nation proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
