On Friday, 9th May 2025, the premises of Pentecost Senior High School (PENSEC) in Koforidua burst into vibrant hues of tradition and pride as the school celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a cultural event dubbed “Pensec Goes Traditional – Our Culture, Our Pride.” The aftermath of this unforgettable event continues to echo with excitement and admiration, as it proved to be not just a celebration of the school’s legacy, but also a deep and joyful exploration of Ghanaian culture.

From the moment guests stepped onto the grounds, they were immersed in a rich cultural experience. One of the most captivating highlights was the display of traditional artwork and drawings, beautifully curated to represent the diverse cultural heritage of Ghana. These visual stories brought history and tradition to life, drawing admiration from students, teachers, and visitors alike.

The air was filled with the tantalizing aromas of various traditional Ghanaian dishes being prepared and shared. Cooking demonstrations featured iconic meals from different regions of Ghana, including waakye, banku with tilapia, fufu with light soup, and kenkey with fried fish. It was a culinary journey that not only satisfied appetites but also educated the younger generation on the richness of Ghana’s gastronomic heritage.

But the heart of the event lay in the joyful display of dance, music, poetry, and traditional attire. Students and staff alike took to the stage to perform songs and dances representing Ghana’s ethnic groups. The rhythm of the drums, the colorful kente cloths, and the graceful movements of dancers made for an electrifying atmosphere that captured the essence of unity in diversity.

A key moment that left a lasting impression was the inspiring speech delivered by the Headmaster, Elder Mr. Peter Atta Gyamfi. His words were filled with pride, reflection, and encouragement as he praised the school’s journey over the past 25 years. He emphasized the importance of holding on to cultural values while striving for academic and personal excellence.

The teachers also played a pivotal role in the success of the event. Their commitment and creativity in organizing and participating in various activities ensured full student involvement, making the event not just entertaining, but also educational. They guided students in performances, managed exhibitions, and supported cooking contests — truly making the celebration a collaborative triumph.

In summary, the “Pensec Goes Traditional” event was more than just a one-day program; it was a beautiful reminder of how culture strengthens identity and builds community. As the school marks its 25th year, this celebration will undoubtedly stand out as one of the most memorable and heartwarming highlights of its history — a day when tradition met youthful energy in the most vibrant and meaningful way.
