The Kintampo-Tamale Highway has once again become the site of a devastating tragedy following a violent collision near the Dawadawa township that claimed four lives and left 18 others in critical condition.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus (GT 5209-16) and a Kia Rhino truck (GE 5377-21).
Eyewitnesses describe a chaotic scene as the two vehicles collided with such force that several passengers were trapped within the mangled remains of the Sprinter bus.
Official reports confirm that four individuals perished at the scene. Their bodies have since been conveyed to the morgue for identification.
The 18 survivors, all described as being in severe condition, were rushed to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital.
Medical staff are reportedly working around the clock to stabilize the injured, many of whom sustained complex fractures.
