“I Am My Own Role Model”: Charly D Reveals Massive Growth, Business Success, and Sets Record Straight on Kwaku Manu Rumors in Okay FM Interview
In a candid and inspiring sit-down on Okay FM’s Ekwansodwoodwo with host Nana Romeo, Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Charly D (popularly known as @charly_dgh) opened up about her journey, self-pride, and the persistent rumors surrounding her relationship with Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu. The interview, which aired on March 25, 2026, has since gone viral, with fans praising her honesty, resilience, and unapologetic hustle
When asked by Nana Romeo if she has a role model and whether she considers herself a role model to others, Charly didn’t hesitate.
“I am my own role model. I’m so proud of myself,” she declared. Looking back at where she started and where she stands now, Charly said she can clearly see the massive growth and success in her life achievements that fill her with genuine pride.
She added confidently: “I’m very sure that a lot of young ladies look up to me, considering my social media presence, business success, and my hardworking skills.”

It’s a powerful statement from a woman who has built an empire beyond the screens.
While many still know her for her captivating roles in some films, Charly has quietly transitioned acting into a part-time passion. Her main focus these days? Running a thriving portfolio of businesses that have cemented her status as one of Ghana’s most enterprising actresses.
As CEO, Charly heads:
- Muland Lounge – a top-rated food restaurant in Accra known for its sumptuous meals and vibrant atmosphere.
- Swift Breakfast and Lunch – a popular pre-order online food service delivering convenience and quality.
- Charlys Apparels (under Charlys Ghana) – her fashion and apparel line.
- Hair and Beauty Businesses – adding to her diverse entrepreneurial ventures.
These ventures aren’t just side hustles; they reflect her vision, discipline, and ability to turn passion into profit while empowering others especially young women watching her every move.
A major highlight of the interview was Charly directly addressing the long-standing rumors of a romantic relationship with comic actor Kwaku Manu. For some time now, their on-screen chemistry and off-screen closeness fueled speculation, but she shut it down firmly.
“I do not have any relationship with Kwaku Manu. He has never proposed to me, and neither have I ever proposed to him,” Charly stated clearly.
She explained that any “romantic” moments fans saw were purely acting for showbiz.
“I am an actress, so whatever role is given to me, I can play it very well. Because if you are an actress and cannot play a role well, then who are you? So whatever we did was just for showbiz.”
Charly went on to express deep respect for Kwaku Manu, rating him as number one among those who helped her rise to fame in Kumawood.
“If we talk about those who helped me shoot to fame, I would rate Kwaku Manu as number one. If not for our movies together, I am not sure many Ghanaians would know me. I respect him so much for that.”
She revealed they met through the industry, grew close as friends, and that he has always been supportive even ordering food from her restaurant for his movie crew. But she pleaded with the public: stop the speculation there’s no romance, just mutual respect and great acting chemistry.
Young ladies (and hustlers in general) now have a living example of what’s possible when you combine talent, resilience, and smart entrepreneurship.
