Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has spoken candidly about her divorce, describing it as a mutual decision reached after both partners realized they were emotionally exhausted.
In an interview on Accra-based TV3, McBrown reflected on the past two years as a period of deep personal transformation, which included significant changes in her marriage, health, and career.
“Divorce should not be seen as the end of a woman’s life,” she said. “I believe I’m the strongest, and divorce is not the end for a woman. Divorce can never, should never be your end.”
The actress emphasized that her separation was peaceful, with both families maintaining close ties and prioritizing the wellbeing of their daughter, Maxine. “Yes, I’m divorced and I’m not ashamed to say it, but I did it so beautifully. We were tired. He was tired. We sat down, talked and decided to move on,” McBrown added.
She also highlighted that she continues to share a positive relationship with her former husband and in-laws, describing it as a friendship built on respect, maturity, and shared responsibility for their child.
Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah tied the knot in a surprise private wedding and engagement ceremony on August 5, 2016, at the Christ Apostolic Church in Alajo, Accra.
