The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced a nationwide adjustment in the prices of sachet water, set to take effect from Monday, April 6, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Association, new pricing guidelines have been introduced to reflect rising operational costs within the industry. Under the revised structure, the ex-factory price for a bag of sachet water (500ml, 30 pieces) is pegged at GH¢8, while the ex-truck price has been set at GH¢10. The maximum retail price is expected to reach GH¢15 per bag.
NASPAWAP clarified that these figures are recommended benchmarks intended to guide producers, distributors, and retailers across the country, rather than fixed prices.
The Association attributed the upward review primarily to increasing production expenses, particularly the high cost of polymers used in sachet packaging. According to the group, a global shortage of these materials has significantly impacted the industry.
It further noted that ongoing geopolitical tensions, including conflict involving Iran, have disrupted supply chains and contributed to escalating costs.
Producers are therefore calling on all stakeholders, including retailers and consumers, to comply with the new pricing structure to maintain balance and fairness in the market.
Despite concerns about the impact on consumers, NASPAWAP expressed appreciation for public cooperation, emphasizing that the price adjustment is necessary to sustain production and ensure the continued availability of sachet water across the country.
