President John Dramani Mahama says bilateral ties between Ghana and France are “deepening on all fronts,” following his participation in the One Health Summit in Lyon, France, and high‑level talks in Paris with French leaders.

In a post on Facebook, President Mahama expressed gratitude for the honour of co‑chairing the global health meeting alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and outlining the goals of Ghana’s Accra Reset initiative within the framework of the One Health agenda — a coordinated approach to protect human, animal and environmental health that gathered leaders and experts in Lyon on World Health Day.

“Ghana and France continue to deepen our relations on all fronts,” Mr. Mahama wrote, highlighting today’s engagements with President Macron and the President of the French Senate as affirmations of shared values and cooperation.

A key outcome of the visit, he noted, was Ghana’s selection as the first beneficiary of France’s National Health Platform — a health compact that will support Ghana’s healthcare system and reforms. President Mahama welcomed the announcement, describing it as a milestone in strengthening health cooperation between the two countries.

The One Health Summit — part of broader international efforts to bolster global health security — brought together heads of state, officials and specialists to advance coordinated responses to emerging health threats.

President Mahama used his platform in Lyon to underline the importance of moving from rhetoric to action on global health issues and reiterated Ghana’s commitment to the principles of the Accra Reset initiative — which aims to redefine development partnerships with a focus on shared value, sovereignty and effective cooperation.

The French‑Ghanaian discussions in Paris also covered other areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, food security, infrastructure and technology, signaling a broad agenda for future collaboration.
