Nigerian acting legend Pete Edochie has reunited with Ghanaian screen veteran Emmanuel Armah in a touching display of friendship and solidarity.
Edochie, who is currently in Ghana for the launch of his Legacy Project, took time from his schedule to visit Armah, who has been away from active acting for several years following a debilitating stroke.
During the meeting, Edochie presented Armah with financial assistance to support his upkeep. He also handed over an additional amount he had previously received as a gift.
The visit went beyond financial support, as Edochie used the occasion to draw attention to Armah’s condition and appealed to the public to remember the veteran actor in their prayers.
Armah’s stroke has affected his mobility and speech, leaving him dependent on a wheelchair and assistance with some daily activities.
Although he has been absent from the screen for years, Armah remains a respected figure in Ghana’s film industry. He is particularly remembered for his contribution to the early years of Ghana-Nigeria film collaborations.
The two actors share a longstanding friendship dating back to the period when they worked together on several productions in Nigeria.
Edochie’s visit therefore served as both a reunion between old colleagues and an opportunity to provide practical assistance to a friend facing a difficult period.
The gesture has also renewed attention to the importance of supporting veteran actors whose contributions helped shape the West African film industry.
