The National Youth Authority (NYA) has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering Ghana’s young people as the nation joined the world to mark International Youth Day 2025 under the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”

In a statement issued by Chief Executive Officer Osman A. Ayariga, the NYA described Ghana’s youth as “the nation’s most valuable resource” and commended their growing role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through local innovation and community action.

From tech innovators digitizing marketplaces to green entrepreneurs transforming waste management and community advocates closing education gaps, Ghana’s young change-makers are “turning global goals into local impact,” the statement noted.

Mr. Osman A. Ayariga outlined the Authority’s pledge to transform youth-led ideas into funded, scalable projects, ensure youth representation in decision-making spaces, and provide advanced training for future job markets.

While the annual Youth Festival has been postponed to honour the memory of national leaders who significantly contributed to youth development, the NYA assured that new dates for the event and related opportunities would be announced soon.

“The SDGs will be achieved through your local actions,” Mr. Osman A. Ayariga told Ghana’s youth. “Keep leading. Keep inspiring. Ghana rises with you.”

International Youth Day, observed globally on August 12, celebrates the role of young people in shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future.
