The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has officially banned all music by Burna Boy from its members’ playlists following a reported violent incident involving DJ Tunez.
The decision comes after a viral video surfaced showing the alleged assault of DJ Tunez at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos, on Monday evening. According to multiple reports, DJ Tunez was attacked for playing Wizkid’s music instead of Burna Boy’s tracks.
The footage, which quickly circulated online, shows DJ Tunez being pushed and kicked on the floor, prompting widespread condemnation from fans and industry insiders.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the NDJ said it had “temporarily removed Burna Boy’s music from all DJs’ playlists until further notice” while the incident is fully investigated. The association also urged DJs across Nigeria to maintain professionalism and respect for all artists during events.
“Our team will carry out a proper investigation on the incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez,” the NDJ statement read. “We urge all DJs to be vigilant and respectful to any individual male or female artist in their various events.”
The move signals a strong stance by the NDJ against violence in the music industry and highlights the ongoing tension between leading artists and DJs in Nigeria’s vibrant Afrobeats scene.
