The founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, says he wants President John Dramani Mahama to appoint him to a position in his administration, arguing that his educational background and experience in religious leadership could help advance Ghana’s development.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM, Prophet Gaisie said he had anticipated an appointment as a member of the Council of State or as Minister responsible for Religious Affairs under President Mahama’s administration.

He also maintained that religious leaders, particularly prophets, should be involved in politics and governance to contribute to national development.

“The church of God must be into politics,” he stated.

To support his position, Prophet Gaisie cited Zimbabwean preacher Prophet Uebert Angel, who previously held a diplomatic appointment in Zimbabwe, as an example of a religious leader participating in governance.

“Prophet Uebert Angel is a pastor but he holds a political appointment in Zimbabwe, so we should also look at the next phase of governance. We would see prophets taking political appointments,” he said.

Asked whether he would accept a political appointment from former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Prophet Gaisie said his decision would depend on whether the role could contribute meaningfully to the country's development, rather than the political affiliation of the person offering it.

“I will look at it, if it is a good appointment that will benefit the country, for nation building, I will do it,” he stated.

Prophet Gaisie, who predicted President Mahama’s victory in the 2024 general elections, said he believed his educational background and experience in religious leadership would enable him to contribute meaningfully to national governance.
