The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all constituency election committees to issue nomination forms to aspirants without requiring proof of payment at the point of collection, following technical challenges affecting its payment platform.

In a notice signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP explained that the decision was necessitated by delays being experienced on the nomination payment system.

According to the party, the disruptions have been caused by heavy traffic on its server as a large number of aspirants attempt to access the platform simultaneously.

“Kindly note that due to heavy traffic on the party’s server, the nomination payment platform is currently experiencing delays,” the statement said.

To ensure a smooth and uninterrupted nomination process, the party has authorised constituency election committees across the country to release nomination forms to aspirants even if they are unable to immediately provide evidence of payment.

However, the NPP clarified that this arrangement is only temporary and does not exempt aspirants from fulfilling their financial obligations. The party stressed that all aspirants will be required to present proof of payment during the vetting stage of the electoral process.

“Aspirants shall, however, be required to present evidence of payment during the vetting process,” the statement added.

The directive is aimed at easing pressure on the party’s digital infrastructure while ensuring that the nomination timeline is not disrupted.

The NPP also expressed appreciation to constituency election officials and aspirants for their patience and cooperation as efforts continue to resolve the technical issues affecting the platform.
