Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Yaw Sarpong has passed away.

The legendary composer and choir leader died on January 20, 2026, according to a confirmation by his artiste manager, Nana Poku Ashis. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Yaw Sarpong, who had remained largely out of the public spotlight in recent years, is reported to have battled a prolonged illness prior to his passing.

Yaw Sarpong’s songs remain deeply rooted in Ghana’s Christian worship culture, continuing to inspire generations long after his passing.
