Two men, Isaac Odoi and Kwame Mani, have been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command following the seizure of 1,613 parcels of suspected narcotic drugs during a targeted intelligence-led operation along the Akosombo–Tema Road.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of January 11, 2026, at Agomeda Junction, after police received intelligence that illegal substances were being transported from the Volta Region toward Tema, according to a police statement.

Police intercepted a white Toyota Highlander and a black Mitsubishi Pajero, which were being driven by 33-year-old Isaac Odoi and 39-year-old Kwame Mani, respectively. A thorough search of the vehicles led to the discovery of 872 parcels of suspected narcotic drugs concealed in the Mitsubishi Pajero and 741 parcels in the Toyota Highlander.

Both suspects were immediately arrested and later handed over to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Tema for further investigations.

Police say samples of the seized substances have been forwarded to the Forensic Crime Laboratory for testing to confirm their contents. Meanwhile, additional investigations are ongoing, including planned searches at the residences of the suspects.

Speaking on the operation, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Regional Police Command, said the successful interception highlights the police’s continued commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks.

She further urged members of the public to support law enforcement by providing credible intelligence to help curb the movement and distribution of illegal drugs across the country.
