Harold Duodu Norman, husband of Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo, has reportedly been remanded into custody amid allegations of abuse involving his wife and their children.

The development marks a significant turn in the case, which has attracted widespread public attention following allegations of physical, emotional and economic abuse.

According to a source close to the matter, Nana Akua Addo is expected to have full custody of the couple’s children while the legal proceedings continue. However, the final custody arrangement remains subject to confirmation through the appropriate legal process.

The case follows a formal petition reportedly filed by Nana Akua Addo, privately known as Rosemond Akua Adobea, with the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service on August 20, 2026.

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the couple had previously come to the attention of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.

According to the police account, Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27, cautioned and subsequently granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29 as investigations continued.

He was scheduled to appear in court on October 7. However, his lawyer reportedly informed the police that he had been admitted to hospital. DOVVSU investigators visited the facility to verify the claim, with police indicating that he would be arraigned after his discharge.

The case has since drawn heightened public interest following the circulation of photographs and videos on social media in early October, allegedly showing Nana Akua Addo with facial injuries, including a swollen lip and wounds. Separate footage reportedly showed one of the couple’s daughters being slapped.

The reported remand and possible custody arrangements are expected to feature prominently as the legal process progresses.

As proceedings continue, the court is expected to determine the next steps in the case, including any relevant matters concerning the welfare of the children.

The allegations remain subject to the judicial process, and Norman is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
