The government has given Adamus Resources Limited a 12-month reprieve to revive its mining operations and address the financial and operational challenges confronting the company.

The decision follows a meeting held at the Presidency on Friday, August 21, 2026, as part of efforts to resolve the dispute between the government and the mining company and protect one of Ghana’s indigenous large-scale mining operations.

Under the arrangement, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Minerals Commission and Adamus Resources Limited have been tasked with developing a comprehensive 12-month roadmap for the recovery of the mine.

The implementation of the roadmap will be supervised by a six-member management team made up of three representatives from Adamus Resources and three representatives of the government.

The team will be responsible for overseeing measures aimed at restoring the mine’s operations, strengthening its financial position and ensuring the sustainability of the business.

A key component of the roadmap will be a strategy to address the company’s outstanding financial obligations.

These include liabilities owed to the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Minerals Income Investment Fund, financial institutions and various suppliers.

The government and Adamus Resources will also explore options for securing fresh capital to support the mine’s operations. This could include bringing in additional investors or partners who would acquire equity in the company.

The parties have been given two weeks to submit the proposed roadmap to the Presidency for consideration.

The intervention comes amid growing concerns over the challenges facing Adamus Resources and the need to preserve the mine as an important indigenous large-scale mining asset.

The government’s decision is expected to provide the company with an opportunity to restructure its operations, address its financial obligations and work towards restoring the mine to a stronger and more sustainable position.
