Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has reached a historic milestone, becoming the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify. His international hits, including “One Dance” with Drake and “Essence” featuring Tems, have propelled him to unprecedented global recognition.

As of January 2026, Wizkid tops the list of Africa’s most-streamed artists, closely followed by Burna Boy at 9.5 billion streams. Rema is third with 5.6 billion streams, Tems has crossed 4.4 billion, South Africa’s Tyla has 3.7 billion, and Ayra Starr has 3.3 billion streams.

Made In Lagos Deluxe, Wizkid’s third studio album, has become his most streamed project, surpassing one billion plays on Spotify alone. His success extends far beyond streaming, earning him a Grammy for his collaboration with Beyoncé, alongside numerous BET, Soul Train, and Billboard Awards.

This landmark achievement underscores Wizkid’s global appeal and the rising prominence of African music on the world stage, inspiring a new generation of artists from the continent.
