Ghana witnessed a powerful wave of unity and renewed national spirit on Friday as citizens, corporate institutions, and stakeholders rallied behind the national team, the Black Stars, in a major fundraising drive aimed at supporting their journey to the FIFA World Cup.

In a statement shared on Facebook, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming show of support, describing it as a strong endorsement of the government’s renewed commitment to transparency and accountability in sports administration.

“Yesterday, Ghana came together as one for our Black Stars. From Corporate Ghana to the football family, supporters, creatives and the wider public, the show of belief was deeply appreciated,” he noted.

According to the Minister, rebuilding trust within Ghana’s sports ecosystem has been a top priority since assuming office. He emphasized efforts to strengthen ties with Corporate Ghana through prudent financial management and openness—principles he says are aligned with the broader Reset Agenda of President John Dramani Mahama.

“Yesterday’s response is a strong endorsement of that direction,” he stated, highlighting the growing confidence among stakeholders in the current leadership of the sports sector.

Mr. Adams also extended gratitude to President Mahama for his guidance, as well as to the Deputy Minister for Finance, who chaired the fundraising committee. He commended corporate partners and individual contributors for their commitment to supporting the national team.

Importantly, the Minister assured Ghanaians that all funds raised would be handled with the highest level of integrity. “Every cedi and dollar raised will be accounted for,” he affirmed, reinforcing the administration’s pledge to uphold transparency.

The nationwide initiative forms part of a broader campaign to mobilize resources and morale for the Black Stars ahead of global competition. Ghanaians have been encouraged to contribute through digital platforms, including dialing *899# or visiting the official raffle website.

“This is our Black Stars. This journey belongs to all of us,” Mr. Adams emphasized, calling on citizens to continue backing the team.

With momentum building and public confidence growing, Ghana appears poised to carry a renewed sense of unity and purpose onto the global football stage.
