The Gbese District Court has once again remanded Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, into police custody following his re-arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
The court on Wednesday, February 25 ordered that he be held pending the continuation of extradition proceedings to the United States. The case has been adjourned to March 18, 2026.
Abu Trica’s latest arrest comes barely days after he and his co-accused were discharged by the same court in relation to an indictment by United States authorities over an alleged $8 million romance scam said to have targeted elderly Americans.
The alleged scheme, which drew international scrutiny, accused him and others of masterminding online fraudulent operations.
The court did not disclose the specific grounds for the fresh arrest, but the accused will remain in custody until his next appearance.
