Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), is scheduled to appear in court today, Thursday, February 12, 2026, after being charged by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for allegedly publishing false information.
His lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour-Awuah, confirmed the development during an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday, February 11. According to him, investigators have formally notified the defence team of their intention to arraign Nkansah before court and have declined to grant him bail.
“I have just left the BNI. They have officially informed me that he will be put before the court tomorrow, by God’s grace. For that reason, bail has not been granted,” the lawyer stated.
The charge is linked to comments Nkansah made alleging that a person paid money to obtain a government-sponsored scholarship to study abroad. The claims were made during a discussion on Sompa 106.5 FM and subsequently gained widespread attention.
Following the allegations, President John Dramani Mahama directed the NIB to investigate the matter. In a statement dated February 3, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Presidency noted that the remarks had attracted significant public interest after circulating broadly across various media platforms.
As part of the probe, NIB officers reportedly searched Nkansah’s residence on Tuesday, February 10, before inviting him for questioning. Earlier reports also indicated that after his arrest, Nkansah was admitted to the BNI Clinic.
Nkansah is expected to be formally arraigned later today as legal proceedings begin in the case.
