The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, has formally informed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of her passing during a solemn visit to the Manhyia Palace on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Nana Konadu, who passed away on October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, was honoured with a one-week commemoration on October 30, bringing together relatives, friends, and dignitaries to celebrate her life and legacy.
At the Manhyia Palace, the Asantehene expressed profound sympathy to the Rawlings family, assuring them of his full support in the organisation of the funeral rites. He applauded the late former First Lady for her exemplary service to Ghana, describing her as a trailblazer who championed women's empowerment and social development.
Nana Konadu, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings and founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, is remembered for her steadfast commitment to social justice, national progress, and the advancement of women. Her influential role in Ghana’s political and social landscape has left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire generations.
