United States prosecutors have revealed further details about the role played by Derrick Van Yeboah, a Ghanaian extradited to the U.S., in a sprawling international cyber fraud network that allegedly stole over $100 million from victims.

Van Yeboah was extradited alongside Isaac Oduro Boateng (Kofi Boat) and Insuah Ahmed (Pascal) after American authorities accused them of operating a criminal organisation known as “The Enterprise.”

According to prosecutors, the group used romance scams and business email compromise schemes to deceive victims across multiple countries, particularly targeting elderly individuals who were searching for relationships online.

Authorities say Van Yeboah personally engaged victims by impersonating romantic partners, building trust over time before convincing them to transfer large sums of money.

Officials disclosed that the scheme generated more than $10 million in profits for Van Yeboah alone.

Following his guilty plea to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, Van Yeboah now faces a possible 20-year prison sentence under U.S. federal law.

As part of his plea agreement, he has also agreed to repay more than $10.1 million in restitution and forfeiture to compensate victims.

The court has scheduled his sentencing hearing for 3 June 2026, when Judge Arun Subramanian will determine the length of his prison term.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings involving the other suspects, including Kofi Boat, are still ongoing. Prosecutors say the case underscores the growing threat of international cyber fraud networks targeting vulnerable people online.
