The Adabraka District Court has remanded Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, into police custody in connection with a widely circulated assault video and additional allegations of sextortion.
The Ghana Police Service, through its Criminal Investigation Department (CID), arrested Danful on Thursday, January 15, following an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team after the video went viral on social media.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the woman involved, who previously lived together, had a history of disputes that escalated from verbal confrontations to physical assault.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the Ghana Police Service confirmed that Danful appeared before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, January 16, as investigations continue.
Presiding over the case, Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo ordered that Danful be held in police custody pending further inquiries. The court directed that he reappear on Tuesday, January 21, to allow investigators to complete their work and advise the court accordingly.
“The suspect was put before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, 16th January 2026, where the court, presided over by Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, ordered that he be remanded into police custody to reappear on 21st January 2026,” the police statement said.
The remand comes in the wake of an earlier viral video that drew widespread public attention. “The remand follows ongoing investigations into an earlier incident captured in a viral video, as well as fresh allegations that the suspect threatened to circulate intimate images and engaged in acts consistent with sextortion,” the statement concluded.
