Mempeasem, a vibrant area within the Assin Foso township, has etched its name in local football history after emerging champions of the highly competitive Assin Foso Tutukɛseɛ Gala. The tournament brought together various communities across the township, celebrating unity, talent, and the raw passion for grassroots football.
The gala featured intense group-stage battles across four groups. In Group A were Foso Station, Mempeasem, and Akrofuom/Trafo. Group B comprised Nuanua, Juaso, and Zongo/Abesewa, while Group C had Pumpside, Dompim, and Adiembra. Group D featured Bantama/Juabronoso, Asaman, and Odumasi. From the onset, the competition lived up to expectations with thrilling encounters and dramatic moments.
Mempeasem’s journey to glory was nothing short of remarkable. In their opening match, they locked horns with Foso Station in a tight contest that ended 1–1 after regulation time. Displaying composure under pressure, Mempeasem triumphed 5–4 on penalties. Their second match against Akrofuom ended goalless, but once again Mempeasem proved superior in the shootout, winning 4–3 on penalties. The third game saw Mempeasem advance via a walkover, setting the stage for the knockout rounds.

In the semifinal clash, Mempeasem delivered a convincing performance against Bantama/Juabronoso, securing a 2–0 victory and booking a place in the final. The grand finale against Odumasi was a classic encounter, ending 2–2 after full time. In a tense penalty shootout, Mempeasem held their nerve to win 4–3 and lift the coveted trophy.
The victorious squad featured players such as Red Sea, Andre Modest, Katico, Amankwa, Spartula, KK, Ashley, Lakooko, Snr Malouda, Cash Money, Mata, Annane, Meyer, Adra, Churches, Carzola, Dior, Teno, Amoako, and Gazza. The team was expertly guided by coaches Gavena, Sadick, and Snr Drogba, whose leadership and tactical insight were instrumental in this historic triumph.
