The suspect accused of killing and burning an immigration officer, Bright Aweh, has appeared before the Kaneshie District Court to face charges related to the gruesome death of Stephen King Amoah, a 38-year-old immigration officer. Aweh stood quietly as the charges were read to him, and his lawyers did not request bail, resulting in the judge ordering him to remain in custody

Sources close to the investigation suggest the motive may be tied to a personal disagreement, specifically a debt of GH¢200,000 that Aweh owed the victim.

However, the police have not ruled out the possibility of more suspects being involved.
The victim's body was discovered at a burnt site near the GBC Satellite area, opposite Comet Estate, with multiple stab wounds and signs of foul play.

Human bloodstains were found at Aweh's home, and laboratory analysis confirmed they were indeed human blood. Prosecutors are expected to present more evidence, including surveillance footage and phone records. The police are still following leads that may point to others who assisted in either the killing or the attempt to destroy evidence.

Family members of the officer were present in the courtroom, visibly shaken but composed. One family member quietly told reporters, “We’ve been talking about this since day one, and now others are finally listening.” The case has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for swift justice and improved safety measures for public officials.
