Tips could be used until 2036 as part of plan

A council wants to use two of its tips for 10 years longer than it has permission for.

Oxfordshire County Council owns Alkerton Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) near Banbury and Stanford in the Vale HWRC near Faringdon.

It has temporary planning permission to run them there until the end of 2026 but wants to be able to extend that until the end of 2036.

If permission is granted, the sites would then need to be restored for agricultural use by the end of 2037.

Council-run consultations on the respective plans remain open until early January.

In November, the council agreed to charge non-Oxfordshire residents £15 each time they use its seven HWRCs.
