Ghana places second in invitational Tennis tourney

Accra, Sept. 12, GNA - Ghana's Table Tennis team, the Golden Loopers picked a silver medal to place second behind Nigeria at the Blaise Soglo Invitational Tournament, held in Benin over the weekend.

Oforiwaa Efua Owusu-Agyei picked the solitary medal in the female division, while number one seed, Nana Yaw Boateng placed a disappointing sixth with Ali Mohamed also placing seventh in the male category. The tournament, which was in honour of Blaise Sogloe was organised by the Federation of Benin Table Tennis with seven African counties, Nigeria, Togo, Niger, Congo, Ghana, Burkina Faso and host nation, Benin participating.

Nigeria, winners of the competition had two gold medals and a silver to win the first position, with Congo and Benin picking a bronze medal each to tie at the third and fourth positions.

The Ghanaian team, which left Accra last week has since returned home.
